Separating the wheat from the chaff

outside City Hall last night

***

Oh no! I've lost three "followers" since yesterday. Quel dommage. Hopefully they're back to knitting tea cozies and fervently praying that their God didn't notice they were reading my blog for a while (Please, don't pray for me. I'll take my chances.). Guess they didn't want to get lumped in with the wrong crowd, eh? LOL.

My ego is sufficiently inflated enough to hope that I might be impinging on the happy fantasy worlds of a few others by showing my support that all people, of all races and sexes deserve to be treated equally by the laws that govern all of us. But I'm just a tiny voice in the world, so I can't say that I have that much power to disillusion someone who is already deluded. These folks better turn up their televisions a bit louder to drown out the voice of outrage, because my tiny voice is now amplified with all the other tiny voices that demand a nation where all people are valued and recognized.

I wish I could write more today. But read Mark Morford's column. With any luck, I'll lose a few more brain-and-heart shackled followers in some Guilt By Association with a columnist who says it like it is. Go Mark!

And I probably won't be around a computer much for the rest of the week. Things are not good with Little Helen healthwise and my Bunny needs me. I'm not sure how much longer my grandma is going to be around.

But I did upload the photos from yesterday's evening protest. You can see them here.

This photo below is my favorite. I don't know who this girl is, but we just caught each other at the same time. Two random people passing at a particular moment in history.

I call this one Picture a Protest.

Stop What You're Doing Right Now

Stop. Don't write that book. Don't compose that music. And please... don't take that photo.

Just stop.

Haven't you realized this already? Everything you're planning on doing has already been done.

Besides, some one else had the idea first so you really should stop thinking, while you're at it.

Cease and desist. That's what the cops say, right?

I just got the most bizarre email. I've been told that I'm "using (re: stole?) [this person's] idea to photograph the people of San Francisco." Wow. I didn't realize that such a novel idea as that had been copyrighted. I also didn't see where you line up to get your photo taken.

All you people on SF flickr groups, you gotta stop taking photos of your friends. You're using her idea too, and she might send you an email also. And all of you great local photo bloggers, like you and you and you and you and you and you, no more photo shoots. Even if you're a pro. There's a new game in town, and you're not it. Sorry to have to be the bearer of bad news. Even you, you staff photographers for SF Gate, I know it's your job to take pictures of people in San Francisco, but you guys better find something else to do.

But for those of you who wrote to me and encouraged me to tell you more stories of the people of this city, and those of you who've asked me over time to take your photos, I'm gonna say abso-fucking-lutely and let me get some batteries.

So, I'll be seeing some of you on the other side of the camera soon. And for those of you who missed it, the SF photo project is here.

For all you little interviewees out there...

Come on, guys. I'm here burning the midnight oil for you on this interview thingy...

But please read 'dem rules. If you want me to interview you, you have to email ME your email address if we've never corresponded. Otherwise I won't be able to send you your questions if your email address is not in your profile. (If I already have your email address and you know I do, don't sweat it.)

I know you're excited and all, but don't make me come out there and spank you. Don't make me work too hard-- I am on the Staycation, you know.

Merci millefois.

xoxo

ps.
: When you post your finished interview, because I am emailing out questions tonight if I can, please do let me know so I can tell people to come and see you.

pss.: If I could be a pinup girl, I would be an Elvgren Girl. They always seemed to be the most fun.
