A Question for My UK Tango Friends
This great milonga traspie features Ricardo Maceiras and Veronica Lorenz dancing at the Tango Nagracha club in Holborn, London. Are these regular teachers in London or visiting guests?
So, are any of you guys in the background of this little video? I'm dying to know if you're there!
;-)

Visitors, I guess - I've never heard of them being in London before.
And helloo! I have interwebs again.
Where have you been, young lady?
Wait...are you in Argentina?!!
More than anything, I was hoping one of you guys was hanging out in the background.
Hi tangobaby:
I have never heard of them teaching around the UK. I have heard of Ricardo Maceiras being a last remnant of the milonguero strain that lives, breathes and dances in Buenos Aires. Visiting, I guess.
As far as me in the back... I have only been to La Negracha once and it was pretty recently so I could only be there in spirit. However, I do think I spotted a friend of mine along the bar. She's a star now!
Dear Tangobaby,
That was a lovely evening and great fun to watch them do this and their other performances that evening. (Yes! I was there, and NO! I am not anywhere in that clip!)
Ricardo is a regular visitor to London. We have the pleasure of seeing him here at least once and sometimes more every year.
Negracha Tango Club does invite some very well known and respected teachers and artists for its Main Hall, and it is often that these guest teachers treat us to a performance at around mid-night.
This Friday evening (18th Jan), we are having Pablo Veron teaching a "one off!" Tango Salon lesson, followed by a special Weekend of Workshops by him at the same club.
Just like you to know it is great fun to watch that clip, and to read your post.
MilongaCat.
I am indeed in Argentina! I've been without internet for ages. But I'm back now, and will be catching up slowly.
Helloooooo Pysche,
Welcome back! I missed you. I am glad you have interwebs again.
Hey Koolricky,
So which one is your friend? Does she know she is a star on youtube?! I love watching the San Francisco videos because I always recognize people...sometimes even myself. ;-)
Hi MilongaCat,
I think I am going to have to visit La Negracha someday...isn't it such a treat to watch these talented people perform right in front of you? It's so inspiring. I remember going to see Forever Tango last year and wishing I was at my local milonga instead so I could watch the performance at the break.
Pablo Veron, too? He's the whole reason I started tango in the first place. I definitely have to get over to London, no doubt about it. I would love to dance with Ricardo. I love milongueros like that--such a treat.
Good night, y'all!
I can't see the vid from here (I'm at work - YouTube is blocked) but I wasn't there. I don't go to Negracha often - just sometimes. It has its moments. The New Year's Eve party was rather good. Most weeks I prefer the Welsh Centre, which is more relaxing, unless I'm feeling particularly competitive on a Friday night. I know people who do both, and you get a discount - the Welsh has to close at 11 and Negracha stays open till 3. But I can't take too many late nights (good thing I don't salsa). It's Jorge Pahl and Rachel Greenberg at the Welsh tonight, I'm going to go straight from work so I can take the class. I'll let you know what it's like :)
I'm just visible as a fuzzy shape at the end of one of the gustavo&giselle videos on my blog - I'll email you.
how delightufl & inspiring.
tangobaby ~ not to be too presumptuous but now that ney & jennifer aren't going to do the capri trip perhaps we could get a group together to do london & paris instead? i think you know someone with connections in paris, no? ;o)
Hi tangobaby, not sure if it is my friend. If it is she has put on some weight, I haven't seen her for ages... The picure is a but fuzzy...
Anyway, thar bar is a rip off!
