The Journey: For Relyn, the Dreamer

“When you set out on your journey to Ithaca, pray that the road is long, full of adventure, full of knowledge.” ~ Constantine Peter Cavafy

Someday, when you travel to the places on your list of dreams, you must promise to send me a postcard so I can go with you in my imagination.

The Cavafy "Ithaca" poem is one of my favourites. And I am a big believer that journeys - both real and imagined - are essential to life. Lovely post. xoxox

I can't believe that lovely video was a Vuitton ad!

My trip has certainly been a voyage of self-discovery, both of my tango self and my non-tango self.

first thanks for intro'ing me to relyn ~ loveliness everywhere!
....
secondly, i know you wrote this to relyn, but it went straight to my core and really spoke to me too. i so needed this today. it's a relief & a bliss inducement to remember that this whole experience is partly me making the journey & partly the journey making me.
you are a very good friend, tangobaby.

Dear Paris Parfait,

When are you coming to live with me? Or is that the other way around? You delight me.

xo

Dear Psyche,

Even the fact that it is an ad did not keep me from enjoying that beautiful video. The nice thing is that we don't need the LV to make our own journeys, do we?

I look forward to hearing more about your journeys when you want to share them.

Dear Ms. Wellspring,

“Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." ~ Christopher Robin to Pooh

I'll be there to remind you. It's wonderful to be your friend.

and of course, I love the calligraphy....

Dear dutchbaby,

OF COURSE you do! Knowing you, you would write something equally as beautiful.

I was really moved by this commercial the first time I saw it, but was disappointed that it was an LV/luxury goods ad. It seemed the message and the product are at the two opposite ends of the spectrum.

But now, watching it again, I am glad LVMH had the balls to do an ad like this. Just think if all advertising were like this - reminding us of what is really important in life. Would the world be a better place? Or would there just be less product sold?

(Note to self: start saving up now to be able to buy LV suitcase for my next trip to Buenos Aires, because, after all, it will make it a "journey" with my stuff packed in a LV...)

Am I getting cynical in my old age?

well hello tear-jerker! that is just the sweetest winnie the pooh quote ever. grazie mille bella!

Hi Alex,

We know we don't need any special luggage to get where we are going. I just thought the visuals were so beautiful and very appropriate for a special friend.

You are not cynical. You just know a lot of things.

Dear Ms. Wellspring,

I love that quote. And I have always felt that Christopher Robin had the most grounded and wonderful ideas for his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood.

I hope I did not make you cry at work!
