My Bunny

"Grown don't mean nothing to a mother. A child is a child. They get bigger, older, but grown? What's that suppose to mean? In my heart it don't mean a thing." ~ Toni Morrison, Beloved

***

My mother in high school.
Isn't she pretty?

Mom and me.

***

I don't remember exactly how old I was when I started calling my mom Bunny. I do call her Mommy too, but somehow Bunny (like as a cute bunny rabbit, not a WASP-y Bunny from the country club set) is what sounds right.

I have thought a lot about mothers lately. And the children they love. As you might have noticed.

Not being a mother myself, I still feel a mom-ness coming out in me when I am with K and her kids.

I think if it wasn't for my Bunny, I wouldn't even know how to go about helping K at all.

***

My Bunny is the person who made me who I am today.

Boy, am I grateful.

Thank you, Mommy. Thank you, Bunny.

I love you for eternity.

xoxo

Sweet sentiments, made all the more special by everything around you right now. You are who you are because of your special mom, in so many ways! Happy Day to you!

Your "bunny" is beautiful. The warmth just ozzes out of her expression. Of course she impacted you and gave you an extra dose of "momness"...that nurturing protective spirit is not about having children...it's a quality that we all can have or develop. Thanks for your positive impact on people, tangobaby. Love to you <3

touching how mothers shape how we are today?

my mother taught be how to overcome adversity, but not by sitting me down and telling me how, but by showing me how everyday of her life.

Adversity comes to us all, but mothers handle it with a certain grace that I can only wish to one day have.

Keep fighting that good fight.

Your Bunny is absolutely beautiful! Just because you don't have any kids doesn't make you not a mother. Your presence show that you are! Happy Mother's Day!

"All mothers are working mothers." -- Unknown

With all that you have been doing especially of late, you have the heart and soul of a Mother...

I love the photos of your Mother.

Stay well and have a wonderful day...

Endearing post...i love to hear mature young women speak highly, kindly, lovingly about their mothers...i have only an 8th grader's last letters, but boy are they reflective of me...a single mom...my daughter was a joy...and i love that she loved me so much too...

as for my mother...she's a blessing everyday as you write about your mother...they are an interesting part of God's larger plan of things...moms....

K and kids are blessed to have you...being a mother goes beyond physcially giving birth...in fact, I think the reverse...much stronger role....
