just another straight white girl for gay marriage

It felt good to get out on the streets and be with lots and lots and lots of other people who know that you can't legislate love, you can't legislate what a family is, and that separate is not fucking equal.

My feet hurt (we walked a lot), my back is sore (ditto), but my heart feels better.

This proposition is going to get turned around. Maybe not tomorrow, or the next day. But it will.
The hateful dinosaurs will be extinct soon. Their day in the sun is ENDING.

More later... it took forever to get home. Let's say public transportation was not running the way it should tonight.

xoxo

I posted on my blog as soon as I saw the decision had come down.

I'm angry and sad.

But I am joyful that the couples already married will remain legally married. And I think that says a lot about the state of same sex marriage in CA. Because if you can allow those 18,000 to remain legally married... it validates the humanity and realness of those marriages.

Gotta love those Mormons, eh?

"Let's legislate morals from the pocketbook, shall we?"

"Let's determine who gets to come to the big dance, based on how many millions we spend on ensuring that only OUR kind get to."

Fucking zealots

*sigh*

I am a straight white male who supports marriage, whether gay or straight, I support love and what it can do to the psyche of a person.

who cares if the love they find is in the body of a man or a woman, love is love and that is all that it is.

Remember what we did to the people with mental problems, we tried to 'fix them'. All the horrible things we did to those "people"? I hope this is how we look on this issue of what we did to gay marriage. With disgust. Marriage is marriage.

Straight white latina (and yes we exist)who also agrees with you. The tide will change, it will, of that I have no doubt.

I'm another straight girl who supports everyone's right to marry who they choose.

I view this fight as somewhat like the fight for racial equalities. It's gonna take a long time but in the end it will be won. We're starting to see the first states to recognize it and the others will follow.

You know what would be cool? A two-sex'd marriage boycott. Same way I wouldn't buy a car from a dealer who advertises "We don't sell to homos!" I wouldn't get married until it was a freedom not denied to people based on sexual orientation.

Good for you Tango Baby, I have many gay friends. I've walked in marches in Long Beach with them and if I lived in San Francisco, yesterday I'd would have been by your side. Like you, I believe in equal rights for all!!

We walked in many Peace demonstrations when I was a girl.
Thankfully, many good things start on the west coast. This is my belief. People are more progressive. Slowly, the rest of the country follows, but it takes time.

I'm just waiting for the day people will feel ashamed for supporting inequality and bigotry. Love cannot be stopped. Justice and Equality are the essential truths of a democracy. Don't Tread On Me!!!!, said our Revolutionary Fathers, we say it now, with Pride in our hearts.

You're right...they can't last too much longer. Soon their lives will catch up with them and fade away. How unfortunate that we have to wait for people to expire with their dark age perspectives before things can get better. Seems very inefficient and slow.
