oh tangobaby!
cathedral st. john the divine here in nyc holds an annual halloween extravaganza and procession of ghouls. the show comes after a silent film screening to live organ music in the cathedral -- last year it was nosferatu, 1922.
i wish you could have been there with me! you could have loved it...
That sounds wonderful! That is SO up my alley...wow.
Last year I saw Nosferatu at the Stanford Theatre which is a great venue for silent films and has an amazing restored Wurlizter organ. It really is a creepy movie. Did you ever see The Shadow of the Vampire with John Malkovich and Willem Dafoe. I loved that movie. They did a really great job capturing Murnau's world and Dafoe's costume and makeup were fantastic.
And I saw the original Mummy movie at the Castro Theatre last Halloween. (Not silent, though)
I don't think most people realize how wonderful these movies are. Part of the problem is that they aren't viewed on the large screen as they were intended to be seen.
BTW, is the font on my blog all in BOLD on your computer? It is on mine and it is bugging the hell out of me! I hope I am just seeing things on my end and that the writing doesn't look so bloody awful to you.
Happy All Saints Day!
xo
