I think I still like those Italian candies, what are they? Big Hot Kisses?
Sorry, I am still smiling over that one...
Ha Ha, Elizabeth! You totally just cracked me up.
Poor Alessandro. We have his phone number. I bet he'd give you a Big Hot Kiss, too!
xo (that's from me)
Dude.
Laffy Taffy, all the way.
ultimate yucky as in "not" liking something? those yellow and orange triangular cone shaped thingies...candy corns...I always hated that...
it's been so long it's hard to remember...but probably little baby ruths & butterfingers...and the caramel popcorn balls wrapped in saran wrap...which i guess no one does anymore because of the whole safety thing...
am i dating myself?
happy halloween...
Colbay,
I forgot about Laffy Taffy! That wasn't a common treat in our neighborhood.
Remember Smarties? Those were like the poor relations to Sweet Tarts. Boy, did I love Sweet Tarts. I would eat them until they gave me a canker sore. The grape ones were the best.
Alex,
Candy corns only taste good if you eat them by stripe. First you bite off the white tip, then you eat the yellow stripe, and then the orange. Try it that way and I bet you'll like them.
Butterfingers and Baby Ruths: all quality candies, to be sure. Right up there with the Baby Almond Joy.
My mom would have thrown out the popcorn balls for fear of poisoning. But we didn't want to eat those anyway. Or the dumb little boxes of raisins.
i liked those bracelet-candies -- the ones where candy beads were strung on an elastic band. :)
i despise any sour candies {sour patch kids}, any candy that sticks to my teeth too much {laffy taffy} and anything made with licorice/anise.
but as long as it's made of chocolate {and most especially if it has nuts or coconut in it} i'll devour it. last night i ate a ton of snickers & almond joys. oooo yea.
Nuit, did you eat the candy off the bracelet or just suck on it while you wore it? I remember my sister getting those necklaces from the ice cream man and sucking on and wearing the candy simulateously. She used to have a slimy ring of goo around her neck. It was gross.
Ms. Wellspring,
Do you have any more left? YUM!

And while I'm on the subject, does anyone remember Lik-m-Aid and Candy Cigarettes? Ah, the good ol' days of vintage candy.
There's an awesome book I read when it came out called Candyfreak : A Journey through the Chocolate Underbelly of America, by Steve Almond. You should read it. It's really fun.
