Ticking Things Off The List

Okay, I'm trying to get some of the little things off my plate before I jump into all that other stuff I was telling you about.

First off, I have to thank my sweet and faraway shutterbug sister and chef extraordinaire Christina at Soul Aperture for turning me onto JPG magazine. And the contests they're having right now.

Please do visit Christine's blog. I know you'll love it and while you're there, vote for her because she's got a photo entered into the Geometry Contest.

Now, back to me. I've entered a photo in the Backstage Contest at JPG. You can see the cover icon immediately to the right in the sidebar, with the lovely Ms. Red Shoes backstage.

Perfect, ain't it? Sooooo, my friends and companions...

Click on that cover and VOTE FOR ME! I want to win $100 and get my picture on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. Oh, wait. That's a song.

I want to win $100 and get a free year's subscription to JPG magazine. Oh please oh please vote for me.

Herein ends the shameless begging.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Did you vote yet?

Okay, I'm stopping now. Promise. I totally trust you.

My future as a photographic savant depends on this contest but no guilt or anything.

ps. If you told like all of your friends to vote for me and maybe even linked to this post, that would be extra cool and really super duper nice of you, too.

Christina July 23, 2008 at 6:46 AM

Sooooo did you suggest I should vote for you? : ) Consider it done! That is a brilliant shot my friend.

Red Shoes July 23, 2008 at 7:41 AM

Oh! You're gonna be famous!

We! :D

tangobaby July 23, 2008 at 9:51 AM

Thank you all for getting me off to a good start with your votes! Red Shoes, YOU are going to be famous, not me!

But I will be your groupie.

Thanks for all the lovin', friends.

this is my first time commenting on your blog although i have followed other friends over here before and appreciated your love of photography, your excitement and daring spirit. i am a fan and follower of JPG and will immediately go over and see your photo and vote...yes i'm sure i will want to vote for you because i have been to your photography site as well and i think you are quite talented :) and the fact that you are acting upon your daring spirit is a wonderful thing to witness!

but my reason for coming to your blog on this exact day is because of a comment you left on relyn's post for yesterday. you wrote:
"I think I might have already mentioned this one, but now I have officially decided that I want you to adopt me and you should be my mom.

Can you have a child that is older than you are? I am not good at cleaning my room but I promise I will always be devoted to you.

(I adore this post. Sloane is the luckiest little girl!)"

i wrote in my comment something like this:

"i just love the comment above by tangobaby. it has often been a secret wish i harbor...to have some of the most unlikely persons be my mother. i have never ever told anyone that fact for whom i hold that wish in my heart. i'm not sure why...for fear of...of....well i 'm not sure what fear makes me shy of that desire. oh but i am glad tango baby said it to you so that i might one day utter those words myself to someone whom i hold that dear to me!

the pictures of sloane are beyond sweet. they made me laugh in the most delighted way!

so i am here at your blog because i wanted to thank you directly for that surprise. i had never heard any one utter that wish aloud before. it is such a sweet and poignant wish.

well sheesh enough said! but i just love it when i have those spontaneous moments of enlightenment upon reading a blog and then can express myself with such immediacy.

Hi robin bird! Welcome!

Then you are going to like the rest of this story, too! As you were writing to me, I was looking at the gorgeous photos on your blog!

And just getting ready to write a comment to you when my computer crashed (not your fault, it's the browser) and when I relaunched to do just that, you had already visited me here!

So know that I'm an admirer of you, too, and will be paying you a compliment and many more visits soon.

And thank you for the vote! xo

Yoli July 23, 2008 at 11:23 AM

We your humble servants voted. The picture is great. Do you have an Etsy shop Miss Tango?

Christian Cagigal July 23, 2008 at 12:15 PM

Thanks for heads up!
I voted!
And, I knew that fly system looked familiar the moment the picture came up!!!
I'm not kidding. I used to got to State so I know that back stage well =)

Abbey July 23, 2008 at 12:16 PM

Fabulous shot! And, of course, I voted for you!!

I wanted to vote again and again, but the darn site only lets you do it one. Boo! ;)

tangobaby July 23, 2008 at 2:38 PM

Oh! Ms. Octavine!

I missed you. I hope that you have been making wonderful things and that when I get over to your blog later on, there will be a new treasure there.

Next time there is a tea party, I will let you know...you would have loved it.

Hi mrs. sarah ott,

Thank you very much for the vote and not minding the guilt trip. I will try not to do that to you guys very much.

Hi Yoli,

You know, I signed up for an Etsy account but have done nothing else with it...perhaps you are my good intentions fairy reminding me to get going on my projects.

Either that or else you are a mind-reader. I will work on having an Etsy update for you soon.

Hi Christian,

wow! That's a wonderful coincidence. I had no idea what a flyrail was until that day, but now I know that backstage there are all kinds of fun things you can fool around with.

I especially liked that there are still sandbags hanging from the ceiling. That was cool.

Hi Abbey,

Thank you for trying to thwart democratic principles on my behalf! I appreciate your enthusiastic support!
