The First
This was the first photo I took.
I took this photo one year ago today. March 23, 2008.
A lot has happened since The Boy let me "hold" his camera.
I can imagine my life full of changes and without a lot of things I might hold dear today, but I cannot imagine my life without a camera anymore.
Funny, that.

Funny, yeah. I think there are some of us who can't quite imagine our lives without your camera. xo
All hail the Boy for letting go of the camera and at the same time letting you open a window for us into your soul. You are truly a creative and artistic being Jules. I am sure he doesn't see much of his camera these days, but that is OK because as it turns out that camera has become a gift to all of us through some amazing photography and stories.
A historic moment captured, for sure :-)
It's amazing to me, what you've done in just one year. Geez!! I'd love to see my students learn and grow at your speed. It's amazing. Exciting and encouraging, too.
...and the world is a better place for it.....
it's beautiful when we find our muse. i too cannot imagine you without a camera. thank providence you two found one another!~
I know this feeling very well
Just a year...that IS amazing! I need to get my ass in gear or I'll be in the same spot next year as now...
A shot that said it all: the objects in the mirror ARE closer than they appear....
I was like,
'ach, where're the curly locks?"
When you photograph people in colour you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in B&W, you photograph their souls! ~Ted Grant
While there is perhaps a province in which the photograph can tell us nothing more than what we see with our own eyes, there is another in which it proves to us how little our eyes permit us to see. ~Dorothea Lange
The goal is not to change your subjects, but for the subject to change the photographer. ~Author Unknown
You truly found your calling with that little loan.
One year? Really? impressive!
Isn't it great when the universe lines up to make things work for you
I can't imagine life without a camera...go into shock if one of mine breaks down. One year is amazing!
Methinks you and your camera have become big buddies! Like your shades Tangobaby. Hope all is well in your world today!

oh oh, WV word: poicsxjk
that's not even close to a real word. i hope they haven't changed the algorithm again.
I am speechless. That was the FIRST photo you took...a year ago!?! Being a fan of your photography I thought you had years of experience. Just amazing. That camera was in desperate need of a good eye.
That camera found you....and lived happily ever after.
Yes! The best kind of happy accident.
Thank goodness you picked up that camera.
xo
The boy little knew what creativity and imagination he was helping to foster - Viva you and the camera and your writing and your blog. Everyday that I read it, I marvel at what you are doing - truly a richly astonishing piece of work.
Oh, you never forget that first photo, do you?
Greetings from London.
