Things You Can Do When You're Home Sick

UPDATE 8/11/08, 5:06pm PST: For those of you who have admired the video below, I have been very remiss in my acknowledgments.

I have to tell you that The Boy was instrumental in picking out this song. In fact, he suggested it while Tara and I were going through my iTunes. I did not give him proper credit for his help and now you know the truth.

A BIG merci beaucoup to The Boy! You have excellent taste in music!

***

Here is my checklist of the Things I've Accomplished While I Was Home Sick this week:

1. Watch the entire 9+ hours of Planet Earth, the BBC nature series narrated by David Attenborough, interspersed with other random movies and documentaries. (done)
2. Complain, whine and feel pouty/sorry for myself (done)
3. Make a music video for a friend (done)

***

On that item number 3, please check out my first collaborative project with Tara of Paris Parfait.

We had discussed making a promo of her beautiful photos of Parisian shop windows on her last visit here, and somehow we got the idea to make a music video as part of the larger project. We selected a song together, and she emailed me the photos and descriptions, and this is what I came up with.

Enjoy! And if you like Tom Jones, then you're really in for a treat!

Now, fingers crossed about the rest of the project! Good luck, Tara! We're all rooting for you!

xoxo

It's incredible that you can be so creative while you have a fever! Thank you for your fabulous work and support in all my endeavours. Even when you're sick, you still make the effort above and beyond and I appreciate you so much! Hope I can return the favour sometime. You, my dear friend, are a treasure. Merci bien! xoxox

Dear TB:
We, of the Been Sick For A Week club, wish to lodge a formal complaint with you, as you are making the rest of us sickies look like slackers. Please desist from all your exuberant creative endeavors at once, and return to sniffling.

Respectfully, your very envious and admiring pal.

PS - Planet Earth rocks!!!! I especially love the "Diaries".

My goodness - so impressive. I don't do anything remotely productive while sick, unless you count carrying on until no one can stand me anymore.

Good work with the html tagging on your meme. ENDLESS. Took me AGES to do mine.

my goodness did i not post a comment? i must have forgotten, tangobaby, but i want you to know i adored this video. i am sharing it with the world too; i think its an awesome new medium for art. maybe its not new but just something i'd never think of. very cool, i love it.

I saw the video you did on Tara's blog this weekend, and it is tremendous! and who couldn't love Tom Jones singing I'm your Venus! Great job girlie, and if you can accomplish that while sick, just think what you can do when well!

Hi friends,

Here I am, back at work and back to replying to you lovelies...

Hi Christina,

My checklist is probably shorter than in actual reality but since a lot of it involved activities with being sick (taking temperatures, sneezing, etc.) I felt they were too boring to put on the list. I was boring me.

Do get the set for your kids. You all will be fascinated like I was although I do not recommend that you watch the entire thing at once. That is very overwhelming. I did that with Season One of The Sopranos, too. It messes with your being in touch with reality.

Tom Jones is very sexy, his voice especially. I saw him live a couple years ago and it was probably the best live show I've ever seen. Women still throw their panties at him, which was somewhat embarrassing, but no one has a voice like he does. His voice is actually sexier now than when he was younger.

Hi paris parfait,

I can be creative when I'm inspired, and you inspired me, so that was the easy part. It's amazing how you can muster the energy to do something creative and for yourself and a friend!

xoxo

Hi Johanna,

Believe me, this was the only worthwhile endeavour of my whole week in pyjamas. If it makes you feel better, I sneezed and blew my nose through the whole thing. No one should ever touch my mouse or keyboard. They are biohazards.

I hope you are feeling better now!!

xoxo

Hi p,

Yes, you know I did complain about the meme, but I had fun doing it and really only complained to get more attention.

Hi sarah,

I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. Even after listening to that song 100 times while making it, I still like it. That shows it's a good song, I guess.

Hi Liz,

I love your response...now you make me want to go out and do something else while I'm not confined to the sofa. (Actually I am working on something, but that will have to be a little surprise for now.)

Hope to see you soon!

;-)

I hope you took enough time off and rested enough and you're really, really better.

Productive and creative even when being sick... :-)

well that's something Tangobaby !!

Hourrah for this new project. Sounds great !!

My Castle in Spain August 11, 2008 at 1:23 PM

....and this first video rocks !!

tangobaby August 11, 2008 at 4:58 PM

Hi Hedgie!!! I LIKE that! Hedgie. Awesome.

My nose looks like it has a slight case of leprosy, but other than that I'm definitely not looking like a recent resident of Madame Tussauds.

If I could knit like you can, I would have made like a thousand Moomins (but none as cute as yours. Yours is Queen.)

xoxo

Hi Lala,

Thank you so much! Hopefully some day I will find a way to collaborate with all of my bloggy friends. That would be fun. Or at least meet them.

Wait till you see our next project. Boy, I can't keep a secret, can I? Stay tuned!

;-)

julochka August 12, 2008 at 11:39 AM

love the bit where you zoom in on the reflected bicycle. that's cool.

would that we could all be so creative when we're sick.

tangobaby August 12, 2008 at 12:36 PM

Hi julochka,

I'm so glad you noticed that little detail. Tara asked me to focus on that, so you can credit her art direction there.

I'm not always creative, believe me. I fumble around A LOT!

i wanted to tell you....the slide show came out marvelously! it is a great collaboration of creative minds. you are a dear sweet friend although i know you were probably wildly enthusiastic about doing it :)
