For My Mommy, and All the Other Angels that Walk Among Us

A little angel in North Beach

And for anyone else who is kind-hearted and a softie and a caretaker and loving and who needs to take care of themselves instead of everyone else for a change. You know who you are.

Because it's like The Boy says:

You can't make unhappy people happy. You can only make happy people happier.

Repeat that on the chalkboard of your heart.

You can't make unhappy people happy. You can only make happy people happier.

Truer words were never said.

***

For all of us who just need a little push in the right direction.

You can listen to this song and then maybe play it again and sing the words aloud.
(I sing it LOUD.)
To me, this song is a ray of sunshine, a kiss, a hug, a friendly reminder of what's what.

From one of my favorite films, Harold and Maude (you know I won't stop mentioning this until all of you have seen it):

Well, if you want to sing out, sing out
And if you want to be free, be free
'Cause there's a million things to be
You know that there are

And if you want to live high, live high
And if you want to live low, live low
'Cause there's a million ways to go
You know that there are

Chorus:
You can do what you want
The opportunity's on
And if you find a new way
You can do it today
You can make it all true
And you can make it undo
you see ah ah ah
its easy ah ah ah
You only need to know

Well if you want to say yes, say yes
And if you want to say no, say no
'Cause there's a million ways to go
You know that there are

And if you want to be me, be me
And if you want to be you, be you
'Cause there's a million things to do
You know that there are

***

ps. Thank you to all of you who replied in the previous post. Some of you made me cry, but in a good way. And I'll write back later, promise. Hugs to all of you.

You are a very wise, as well as talented young woman. It's an honor to know you.

You can't make unhappy people happy. You can only make happy people happier.

I LOVE this and am taking it back to the Manor! I just might have to post it on my sidebar.

I always leave your place a richer and happier person.

It's official, I love the boy too! I hope he doesn't mind.

H&M should be required viewing for anyone mystified by the meaning of life.

It's been a while since I've "sung out"!!!! Thanks for the reminder. All that's missing is the bouncing ball.

You have made me happier today. That means things are good for me.
Thanks, TB, and my thoughts are with your family right now.

I've just been listening to the song now (which I failed to do when I first came down earlier) and like johanna, I've been singing my lungs out. Great tune.

Greetings from London.

Tango - Oh boy, is this whole post ever true.

A toast to making those happy people even happier, to singing out, to taking care, to H&M.

A toast to you.

Love, Debi

Cat/Yusuf can do no wrong in my book.

Do take care. Love yourself. And have courage.

Hi namastenancy!

Wow! Thank you! Mostly, I think I must be channeling someone else, or else there's someone else inside me that is smart, because a lot of me is quite silly and immature, actually.

I'll see you soon?
xo

Hi a cuban in london,

You're very welcome.

Hi willow,

Please do take the Boy's Wisdom back to the Manor. He really is quite a genius sometimes.

Thank you for visiting and I'm glad I write things that make you happy.

Hi christina,

Of course you can love The Boy. I will gladly share him with you. He won't mind. He loves to be adored.

Hi johanna,

I know I'm preaching to the choir here every time I mention this film. I just hope that you and I will inspire new viewers if we keep at it enough.

I love this song, and the other songs from the soundtrack are wonderful too. But this one always seems so perfect for the ideas I'm trying to get across.

Hi kath,

I'm so glad to hear that, and thank you for coming to see me. I will tell my grandma a hello from you when I see her.

Hi a cuban in london (again!),

As a music loving guy, I'm sure you singing this song aloud sounds wonderful. Just know there's someone halfway around the world who is singing it with you! Hooray!

;-)

Hi sarah,

I am glad to hear that. You give so so much to others. An incredible amount of care and sacrifice that other people would never be able to you. Take care of yourself now while you are young and fresh so that you will live a long and healthy life.

And do try to watch this movie someday. Or else I will have to send you a copy!

Hi debi,

I received your toast and raise one to you as well. How sweet you are!

xo

Hi karey m,

thank you for the kirtsy! I have had many new eyes today because of you. You are so kind!

Hi d i a n a m u s e,

You and I have the same playlist in our iPods and our hearts, don't we.

I promise to take care of myself if you promise to do the same.

;-)

that music really brings back memories! smile, smile , smile. that's me smiling while i sing it out loud ;)

but the best part is that you love and appreciate your momma. the phrase...write it on the chalkboard of your heart. wonderful! it would be a completely different life had i live by that little message. i have to say that other than my work i do try to remember this.

it's hard though... leaving people behind...
