Lost in America

No, it's not what you're thinking... although the title is very apropos to the feelings of many people in this country right now (confusion? apathy? uncomfortableness, anguish and a feeling of impending doom? maybe this link might help with the issues and cut through the crap).

Nope, just trying to raise awareness about a movie I adore and a funny-as-hell guy and how I really wish I was not at work right now...

Anyone ready to escape the rat race and go touch Indians? Man, I am going to have to watch this movie soon.

I loved the part when he was demoted to working as a crossing guard and the kids were giving him a hard time and he gives up and starts telling the cars "hit the child! hit the child!"

This might be mine:
"We're in hell. We've entered hell! When?"

Or the part about the nest egg. Or when he tries to get the casino to give their money back. Damn, this is a funny ass movie!

Anguish for me, I think.
Oh, and a smattering of doom, yes.
You can probably hear my sigh all the way to San Francisco.
I wish I could do something to help but I can't even vote :(
Keep these posts coming- they remind me I'm not alone.

Hi theelementary,

I hear you, my dear. This election has people on edge all over the planet, that is sure. As a friend of mine who is in Germany says, When the US sneezes, the rest of the world gets a cold. So you're definitely NOT alone. And in fact, you're in good company, if that helps any. ;-)

Let's hope that our faith in Democracy (with a Capital D) is redeemed with this election and that years of cheating, Diebold voting machine nightmares, and all of the other trangressions that have so disenfranchised so many voters.

A LOT can happen in the next two months, so don't lose heart yet, okay?

I think that a lot of us are feeling lost right now and there's no comedy involved. I am watching the political scene with horror and disbelief. Let's try to keep our faith in Democracy - no matter how dark the times seem.
BTW - your new haircut is delightful. Now that the weather has returned to normal - OH FOG, how I love thee - when can we have that walk up Valencia, sampling treats as we go?

Hi namastenancy,

I think the only way to maintain some sort of sanity is to indulge in humor (and ice cream) whenever possible.

I believe that it is WAY too early to call this election and that given the way that McCain performed on The View (of all places, daytime television is asking the hard questions), as well as Palin's "interview" with Charlie Gibson, people are seeing that these false fronts are exactly that. False and cannot hold up to any direct scrutiny.

There are many many days ahead to chip away at these impostors. Don't lose heart yet.
