Four Eyes

Life is partly what we make it, and partly what it is made by the friends we choose.” ~ Tennessee Williams

***

I really enjoy my photowalks alone: having that time to just wander at my own pace, stopping on a dime, maybe standing in the middle of the street once in a while, staring at the tops of buildings or at junk on the ground. Things you don't really feel like you can do with someone else as you might cramp their style. Or that sometimes you can't talk because you're too busy concentrating on looking about.

But when you have a friend like Ms. Red Shoes, it's like having a second brain and another pair of eyes, in addition to having serene and lovely company.

Without her eyes, I wouldn't have had any of these pictures today.

(says "Mr. Seahorse knows that no one is illegal.")

Tired pup in door.

Devotional candles. Spells.

Good luck yarn and colorful lights.

***

And without Ms. Red Shoes, there would have been no pear and ginger pie at Mission Pies.

You know this was gooood.

So was the hot dog wrapped in bacon.

That was my pie chaser.

Thank you for the date, my sweet friend!

The one of the puppy is really beautiful. Thank Ms Red Shoes on my behalf. Wonderful images indeed. Reminds me that I must include sauteed onions in today's lunch.

Greetings from London.

Pear and ginger pie? That sounds heavenly!

Fun photos and the pie, then a hot-dog? Sounds like a little slice of heaven. xoxox

Hot dogs "animal style"! Love it!

Gorgeous photos - I envy your energy! I am going to be out and out with the camera as soon as I shake this crud and survive next week's open studios. Isn't Mission Pies the best? The absolute best!

Having tried shooting devotional candles myself, all I can say is wow.

Yesterday was fun for me too - an amusement park sprouted up around the corner for the weekend. Shots being posted on Flickr as I type....

Sadly (or not), mine was a solo adventure.

Sausages! You're a girl after my own heart.

Hi a cuban in london,

I'm going to go back to that store (if I can remember where it was) and give a print of the puppy to the store owner.

I hope your onions were delicious. And they're very good for you. Much more so than a hot dog wrapped in bacon would be. I forgot to tell you that they also put mayonnaise on the whole thing.

Hi mary-laure,

It was. Not too sweet and just the right amount of ginger. Yummy.

Hi paris parfait,

A little slice of heaven! You punster. I'm glad we went yesterday because today it was cold outside.

Hi christina,

I know! What are we going to do about THAT? It's just wrong that I'm eating these things without you. Wrong.

Hi dutchbaby,

Why does that sound so naughty to me? I have a naughty mind.

I'm sorry.

The hot dog was so good that I will have to abstain from future ones.

Hi namastenancy,

Yes, Mission Pies is worth that whole trek down to the end of the street. Next time I am getting the pumpkin pie.

I hope you feel better soon (gosh, you've been sick for a while now) and I'll see you at the Open Studios.

Hi johanna,

The other cool thing was the giant waves of heat that came from the candles. That was a serious collection of them.

I'll look for your flickr photos. How fun!

Hi Vanessa,

Oh, yes. I am a sausage and hot dog girl. I had a friend who was raised in Iowa near pig farms and she said that if I had ever seen hot dogs being made that I would never be able eat one again, but thankfully that never happened to me.

Ignorance is bliss and bratwursts are a food group to me. Yummm.

Ohh, these are so wonderful! You're one gifted photographer, madam, and it was so much fun to be out and about with you! You're a great wandering companion. I learned fabulous new things about my neighborhood. Got some fun ones myself--I'll get them online soon.

PS You think I'm serene? I'm so flattered!
PPS I love you.

I know you know that I'm referencing the In-N-Out Burger hidden menu. Oh wait, that didn't come out right either.

tangobaby October 20, 2008 at 10:07 PM

Dearest Serene Red Shoes,

Yes, you are my little calming companion. I could wander all over town with you and enjoy every minute of it.

Please, let's go out again. Time seemed to fly by.

And I love you, too.

xoxo

Hi dutchbaby!

LMAO! Ha ha ha!

I miss In 'n Out so much. I can't believe I have to drag all the way out to Fisherman's Wharf to get a double-double. I always called it Protein Style but Animal Style sounds a lot more exciting.

Okay, I'll stop now.

;-)

OMG, a hot dog wrapped in bacon. That might just be the best thing invented EVAH!

I think it will be my dinner tomorrow.
