Random Weird Hits

Do you ever notice that sometimes you get a whole lot of people looking at one or two posts and you can't figure out why?

For some reason today, a bunch of people are looking at a post about my former haircut, and another one about when I had a horrible commute and drifted off into fantasyland.

That sort of thing happen to you? I dunno, it's weird. Okay.

Welcome to the lovely and unpredictable world of the blogosphere! The other day someone left a comment in a post I'd written back in February this year! Go figure!

Maybe those people were looking for a better hairdresser in your same area :-)

Crazy, ain't it?

Greetings from London.

Weird!

At least they aren't typing in 'baby sex and cherries' and finding your blog... that was a keyword phrase used this week for someone to click through to me... I'm guessing they didn't find what they were looking for!

Hope you're well! x

Ever since my Whores de Combat post I've been getting some really 'interesting' hits

Shows us the strength--and weakness, of Google, doesn't it?

I don't at all agree with a Cuban in London that commenting on an old post is weird; not everybody is hooked on frequent reading and keeping up to date with certain blogs. Some readers just dip in whenever they find something of interest. I like it when someone comments on old posts, because then I know those years of articles are still being read on occasion.

Then, too, most of us bloggers write about various things, not just one topic. So certainly there are posts that are most interesting than others to different people.

But because of Google's effectiveness, even if only a comment includes some popular search words, readers will be referred to the blog, which may have absolutely nothing to do with the keywords in question.

Yeah, some post definitely hit a cord on some people more than others. In my case, I have a couple posts that have become popular gateways to my blog, but I have been able to figure out why (like the Tango Types, which somehow people have distributed in some Tango group listings), the ones on the history of Tango Clothing and Shoes (people search for that a lot in google) and then that one on "What do you watch Tango in You Tube?" that basically brings me a lot of readers doing google searches on "You Tube tango" in google. None of those is really mysterious.

I posted on Little Egypt and Cairo, IL and got a comment from someone in Cairo Egypt! And he didn't google me. Synchronicity?

My favorite was someone in Brazil googling in "macho boots" & then ending up at my post showing my new rubber boots I'd bought in preparation for Hurricane Ike. And a friend once linked to my blog about extra boobage - it was great! Guys popping in for just a second & then right back out when they saw no skin on display. It was my biggest day ever.

I feel like there is a hidden message in this post of yours. Hmm...

I typed in beautiful and strong bitches who are friends with jamaican, beautiful, strong, bitches and I So found your blog!

: )

I SO said that out loud!

You are corrupting me my friend and I love it!
Eh naw!

it's like a little conversation going on over here all the time. you say something someone says something back via comments and you respond. i love that!
i was going to tell you about debi's post on boobage but i see she was already here... my most popular one seems to be "how to hold a camera like a professional". b-o-r-i-n-g i know. of course i was writing about being a photographic moron so mostly i think people click right off and go look somewhere else for 'real help'.
maybe you get a lot of hits because you used the word "'bitching'" in your category list for the commute post.... it hints at the possibility for some hot stuff goin' on over here on your blog......

Hi a cuban in london,

I agree with tangocherie, that it's not too unusual to find people reading old posts, especially if they've just discovered you and are trying to get caught up, or else a particular subject pops up if they're on The Google.

Funny thing is now I think they came to me through one of the photos. So maybe someone used a photo and linked to me? I don't know.

It is a crazy little bloggy world, though. I hear ya.

Hi christie,

I don't even want to begin to think what baby sex and cherries is all about. Eeeewwww.

I'm good! I need to come by and see what you've been cooking up lately!

xo

Hi limerick tango,

Now that's a post I need to read! Fabulous title. I like it already.

;-)

Hi tangocherie,

yes, you're right. It just puzzled me how there was such a bunch of them on the same day...I guess I might never know.

Hi la tanguera,

I think you're right, it is a little easier to figure out if your blog is not all over the map (meaning me).

;-)

I'm glad that some of your posts are getting such good play around the 'sphere.

Hi willow,

Now that's trippy. And very cool! I loved that post, btw. Totally up my alley. Loved it.

Ha ha debi!

You little tease! All those poor disappointed guys!

Now I have to come over and see what you said about extra boobage.

;-P

Hi christina!

You rock my world. Seriously.

Bitches UNITE! When we meet someday, things are gonna ex-plode!

Hi robin bird,

I'm glad you're enjoying the repartee as well. You know, it never dawned on me that naughty language was the culprit. I just thought people wanted to see about my haircut. LOL.

I do hope lots of people find their way to you in whatever manner they can. Your blog is wonderful and your photography divine. Keep it up!

That's why I love Sitemeter! The referrals page is almost as much fun as some posts :-)

My #1 post, with more hits than all my other posts combined, was 100 Push-Ups.

On a Tango site. Go figure.

Which reminds me, it's time for another booster post.
